Anjali Gottipaty B.S. (they/she)

Anjali, a first year Ph.D. student in the counseling psychology program at Indiana University, is a recent addition to the Race and Relationships lab. They identify as a multi-racial, queer individual and commenced their academic journey at Rochester Institute of Technology, where they received their Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Anjali is now dedicated to establishing themself in the field of sexuality sciences.  

Their short and long-term aspirations involve contributing to research, clinical practice, and teaching, focused on representative sexual health care for individuals in marginalized spaces. In the early stages of their career, Anjali collaborated with Dr. James Brooks on research exploring experiences of race play and initiated their own research project on identifying protective factors for BIPOC folks engaged in race play. 

Beyond academia, Anjali actively engages with their community to promote strong social justice and equity values. They currently serve as a student representative for the Graduate and Professional Student Government and acts as a department organizer for the Indiana Graduate Workers Coalition. Additionally, they remain a dedicated volunteer member of the non-profit organization Sexual Health Includes Pleasure (SHIP), which is based in their previous home state of Rhode Island.
