Identity and Intimacy. Beyond which boxes you check, what does it mean to have a racial identity? How do you identify and and what do you think and feel about that identity? How do you believe others perceive you as a racial being? What does all of this mean for the level of intimacy that you are willing to pursue with someone with a different racial identity? I2 goes beyond the the box and explores the nuances of relating.
How do multiracial families and partners in interracial relationships navigate the racial landscape of the United States? At R&R we posit that the answer to this question includes an understanding of not only personal experiences, but also ideologies and identity among other things. The Racial Worldview Project delves into the nuances of individual perspectives and their implications for relationship quality and longevity.
At Race and Relationships we are keenly aware that all research has its own biases. RESPEC+ is our explicit endeavor to examine populations and ways of relating that are systematically understudied and for whom much research is not relevant. Here we explore ways of relating such as polyamory and other forms of consensual/ethical non-monagamy, LGBTQI+ populations and hold a sex-positive lens.
